Having worked with women looking to achieve balance between work and family commitments for many years, I know that it's a key issue for many ambitious women when they become mothers. Many remain keen to develop their careers whilst managing family life, so it was exciting to find a new roadshow aiming to help women improve their balancing act.
The launch event for the Mum's Enterprise Roadshow was held on a glorious June day at Moor Park in Hertfordshire, with another soon to be held at Broxbourne on 18th June (fingers crossed they're as lucky with the weather).
The brainchild of Lindsey Fish, the roadshow has brought together a team of talented women who have each started their own businesses, so have a huge amount of insight into what might be useful for others at the beginning of that journey. They are passionate about empowering people with families to work hard to achieve professional success for themselves, without sacrificing (too many) family commitments.
The roadshow attracted parents, employers, and suppliers that can help people setting out on their own entrepreneurial journey. I was impressed to also meet big brand exhibitors that are proud to offer flexible and part time roles, another indication that large organisations are committing to supporting women and families looking for balance.
As the first event of its kind, it was brilliant. The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed, and friendly. Lots of interesting people to get to know, and several great workshops for people thinking about / already starting their own business. It was informative and enjoyable, and visiting children were entertained with various toys that had been thoughtfully provided. Well done to the team at Mums Enterprise Events, and all involved in running the workshops.
